MARY LOUISE HEDINGTON, 76, a former Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away at her home in Oak Harbor on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 15, 1929 in Everett, Washington, the daughter of George & Stella McStot McCallister. She was raised and attended school in Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1948.
She was united in marriage to Phillip Hedington in Seattle in 1949 and they made their home there, raising their family. In 1960 they moved to Sedro-Woolley where she continued to be a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In 1969 Mary began working as a nurses aid at the Life Care Center in Mount Vernon where she provide 22 years of loving health care to the residents there. She retired in 1991.
Mary enjoyed playing bingo, traveling to Reno, but most of all she just loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Marilyn & Fred Howie of Oak Harbor, Phyllis & Gary Evitt of Vader, WA, Phillip & Trudy Hedington, Carol & David Smith and Edward & Nanci Hedington all of Sedro-Woolley. 1 brother, William McCallister Doris of Sedro-Woolley. 14 grandchildren, Kathy, Arthur, Lisa, Duane, William, Jennifer, Phillip, Brian, Cristy, Michael, David, Kimberly, Edward, Jr., & Angel, and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip and son, Gary in 1979 and a granddaughter, Carrie Smith in 1980.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Vernon with Pastor Wendy Tingley of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.
