Maxwell Taylor Collette, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Life Care Center in Sedro Woolley, Washington.
He was born February 12, 1912 in Parsons, West Virginia to Moody and Minnie Ludlow Collette.
Max as a young boy delivered Western Union Telegrams and as a young man worked as a cowboy. Later, he worked as a power plant operator for the Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, and the Army Corps of Engineers for 27 years in Kodiak, Alaska, Guam and Branson, Missouri.
Max has resided in Mount Vernon for the past four years and Sedro Woolley for ten years. He enjoyed photography, music, bowling and farming. Max had an inquisitive mind and always loved learning and growth up until his very last days. He loved his Lord, and was an avid student of the Bible—his favorite book—which he studied diligently for the last 45 years.
Max was a protector of and provider for his family and a man of strong convictions—and lived by them.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn at the family home in Mount Vernon; son, Duane Collette of Sedro-Woolley; two grandchildren, Christine Collette of Mount Vernon and David Collette of Sedro-Woolley; five great- grandchildren, Kirsten, Sabrina, Cecilia, Kaden, and Santina and one great- great-grandchild, Israel. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Eldridge, Theron, and Vida Tallie.
A private graveside service was held for family and friends on June 14, 2008 at the Hamilton Cemetery. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
