Melva Pearl Brinson

Friday, February 23rd, 2007

Melva Brinson knicknamed Pat passed away on Friday, February 23, 2007 at Creekside Retirement Community in Burlington, Washington at the age of 93.
She was born December 20, 1913 in Arnett, Oklahoma, the daughter of James and Mamie Long. Melva came with her family from Oklahoma to Washington in 1935, where she married Clarence Brinson on October 10, 1936. She was an equal partner in the dairy farm and raised her three children son Alan, and twin daughters, Rosella and Lovella with much love. She took wonderful care of her husband who passed away in 1990 of Emphysema.
Melva’s interests were reading, playing the organ, crocheting, sewing, needle point and gardening. Melva was also a good cook and baker, but her main interest was her family, neighbors and friends. She was member of the First Baptist Church and she learned to love Bingo at Creekside. She’s best known for her loving, nurturing nature, her sweet smile, sense of humor, and gentle, and sometimes spirited, soul. She lived independently at home, until the age of 92.
Melva is survived by her son Alan Brinson and his wife, Loreen of Sedro-Woolley and grandsons, Duane Brinson and wife Teresa and Danny Brinson and wife Kathy, Her daughter, Lovella Olberding and her husband Larry of Camano Island and grandsons, Aaron Radich and wife Shannon and Scott Bressler and wife Celine and daughter, Rosella Edick and her husband Mark of Burlington and granddaughters, Kristi Sanders and husband Cleav and Traci Sanford. 17 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ruth Yarnold of Purcell, OK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mamie Long, her husband Clarence, her brother Elgie Long and his wife Carmen, sisters, Ineta Brinson and her husband Cecil’Clarence’s brother and Alberta Long and nephews, Harold Long and Jerry Brinson.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Creekside who lovingly called her ‘Lil Pat’. We couldn’t have asked for better care for her. Also, we appreciate Hospice and Visiting Angels, as well. ‘Lil Pat’ will be greatly missed.
Memorial Services will be on Friday, March 2, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro- Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice or your favorite charity.
