Richard Clifton ‘Rick’ Yarbrough, 56, a resident of the Concrete community, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 21, 2008 after a valiant fight to live each day.
He was born on September 6, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, to Richard & Joyce Saulsbury Yarbrough.
He was a man of quiet humor, integrity, service and commitment.
Rick retired from the U.S. Armed Services, where he served two tours in Vietnam on the USS Enterprise, and then in the Army overseas in Korea, Germany and Southeast Asia during the Gulf War. His specialty was electronics, avionics and missile system repair on the fighter jets and tanks.
His ‘other’ service to the community included his involvement as an active member of the American Legion, VFW, 40 & 8 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Rick is survived by his two sisters, Cathy Yarbrough of Concrete and Linda McBride of Yukon, Oklahoma. His brother, David Yarbrough of Golden Valley, Arizona and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and great-nephews.
A Graveside Inurnment Service with Military Honors will be held at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 3:00 PM.
A fund raising benefit that had been previously scheduled to help with Rick’s medical expenses and will continue at the Concrete Eagles with a buffet dinner with silent auction and raffle from 4 to 6 pm followed by music & dancing at the Theater from 7 to 10 pm. All are invited to attend.
Rick’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the Community of Concrete, North Puget Oncology Center and all of his friends for their blessing and support.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
