Our beloved brother, Robert LeRoy Neigg Nick, Jr., 56, a longtime Skagit County resident went to be with his Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at his home in Lyman following a battle with cancer.
Bob was born on July 25, 1950 in Seattle, WA, the son of Robert L. & Helen J. Shepard Neigg, Sr. When he was a small boy the family moved to Rockport and Bob attended grade school in Rockport and Marblemount and then high school in Sedro-Woolley.
Bob later moved to Minnesota where in 1969 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy. After his discharge in 1971 due to medical issues he returned to Skagit County where he worked as a logger, a long haul trucker, a taxi driver and other occupations related to automobiles. In 2000 his travels took him back to Minnesota for a while until finally returning and settling near Lyman.
Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, good ol 60’s rock & roll music, watching NASCAR and restoring old Chevy’s, his pride was a restored 1955 2-door post.
Bob is survived his children, Robert L. Nick, III in Arkansas, Tina Nick in Missouri and Stephanie Walz in Minnesota. 2 grandchildren. His mother, Helen Green of Blaine, WA. 5 siblings, George Nick of Concrete, Mary Nick of Lyman, Patrick Green of Blaine, Brenda Bastean of Portland, OR, Kathy Shope Tom of Concrete and Dawn Ellen Spaur of Yakima, WA. His longtime companion, Debra Clausen in Minneapolis, MN and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Nick, Sr. and 2 brothers, Eddie & Steve Nick.
Bob’s family wish to thank Daryl Webb and Sally Robinson, the staff of North Puget Oncology and Skagit Hospice for their care and assistance during Bob’s final days and suggest memorials be made to either of those organizations.
A graveside inurnment service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 3:00 pm at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete with Pastor Bruce Martin of the Concrete Assembly of God Church officiating. Visitation for Bob will be available on Tuesday from 9am to 5pm and on Wednesday from 9am to 3pm at Lemley Chapel. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
