Shirley Ann Cummins, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington.
She was born on May 24, 1936 in Colfax, Iowa to John and Leatha Day Last.
Shirley was raised and grew up in Colfax, Iowa.
She was united in marriage to Bill Cummins in 1950 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they resided in Nebraska and California until moving to Mount Vernon in 1974 where they made their home until moving to Concrete in 1987.
She enjoyed playing cards, playing pool, and baking. For many years, Shirley was the President of the River Lane Community in Concrete. Most of all, she enjoyed being with family and friends, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children; Peggy Watts of Oak Harbor, Richard W. Cummins of Sedro-Woolley, David O. Cummins and his wife, Tracy of Juneau, AK and Karen Cummins of Hoodsport, WA. A foster son; Dave Murray of Everett. 14 grandchildren, Phillipe, Charlie, Ben, Rona, Angelia, Racheal, Teri, Chris, Ashley, Denny, Jack, Cody, Chas and Cori. 13 great-grandchildren, Samantha, Kelse, Cassidy, Savanna, Tyson, Blue, Trey, Terri Jr, Brandon, Lilly, Isaac, Sierra and Kahlei and one sister, Linda Farrington of Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill in 1989, a brother, Larry and two sisters, Velma and Barbara.
A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete with Pastor Ron Edwards of the Hamilton Baptist Church officiating. Memorials are suggested to Youth Organizations of your choice. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
