Wanda Wanita Ashe, 85, a former Skagit County resident passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in Woodburn, Oregon.
She was born on August 26, 1921 in Ketchikan, AK, the daughter of William F. & Mary J. Groken Morris. The family moved to the Spokane area when Wanda was an infant, where she lived for a number of years until moving to Seattle and then to Lyman where she attended school.
Wanda was united in marriage to William Virgil Ashe on June 19, 1937 in rural Skagit County and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley, Clear Lake and Lake Stevens. She was a devoted wife and mother; she also worked as a sales clerk in a local fabric store and she and William operated Ashe’s grocery and gas station on Ferry Street in Sedro-Woolley for several years.
After William’s death in 1980 she moved to Bellingham to be with her family for a number of years until moving to Woodburn, Oregon in 1999.
Wanda enjoyed sewing, embroidering and working crossword puzzles.
She had attended the Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, William Ashe and his wife, Karen of Bellingham and her daughter, Naomi Forbes and her husband, Robert of Woodburn, Oregon. Two
