OBITUARY

William Allen ‘Bill’ Russell, 63, a longtime Sedro-Woolley area resident passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
He was born on December 6, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Walter & Mildred Logan Russell. He was raised and attended school in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Conflict. After his discharge he returned to Nebraska, married and raised his family. He had worked as an auto parts salesman and in cement manufacturing.
In the early 1970’s Bill came to Washington where he met Leona Bolen in 1972. They were united in marriage in Mount Vernon in 1973 and for the past 35 years they have made their home in the Sedro-Woolley area.
Bill worked as traffic control flagger for Asplund, Puget Power and other companies all around western Washington until an accident, where he was struck by a car, forced his retirement.
Whenever possible Bill enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and playing darts. He was a member of the Moose and Lyman Tavern Leagues.
He also just enjoyed being around people, telling jokes and socializing.
Bill is survived by his wife, Leona at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His children, Dawn Smith, Larry Russell and Billy Russell and his wife, Tammy, all of Omaha, Nebraska. Eight grandchildren, Billy Russell, Jr., Trissa, Kira and Jared Russell and Doug, Blake, Brandie and Danielle Smith. An aunt, Juanita Russell and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary & Dale Russell.
A Life Celebration gathering will be held at the Burlington Eagles, 119 N. Cherry Street on Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 1:00-4:00 P.M.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
