William “Bill” D. Pfeifer, III, 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at home in Concrete of natural causes. He was born on May 10, 1946 the son of William D. Pfeifer II and Afton (Lewis) Pfeifer in Spokane, WA.
Bill spent some time in the Air Force, moved to the Puget Sound area, worked at Boeing for many years, and retired to Concrete with his wife Sally. He played the keyboard and sat in with several bands in Skagit valley, loving every minute of it. He loved volunteering wherever he could.
He is survived by wife, Sally Pfeifer; sister, Susan Williams; stepchildren, Duane, Denise, and Daniel Perry; half-siblings, Paul Williams and Paula Treneer; many grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Bob Pfeifer.

Love you dear friend. Your passing has left me with that all to familiar feeling that I should never take a friend for granted. You have done so much for so many. Even now your influence and that get it done attitude is changing lives for the better. You have left a legacy that few will ever reach. I’m sure when you arrived in heaven you got a standing ovation from friends and family for the pure heart and soul that you were and are.
So long friend. I’ll see you when I get there.
I spent many a Library Board meeting with Bill several years ago. He was always easy to talk with, willing to get down to work, and had a very generous spirit. I ran into him a several times in the last few years – the last time in parking lot at the grocery store – about a year or so ago. He said he and Sally were doing well and that he was busy as usual. Bill was a pleasure to know and a treasure to the Library and to the region. He contributed so much and his passing is a tremendous loss. My deepest sympathies to Sally and his family and friends. He will be missed.
I met Bill as members of local library association. I am touched that he left us too soon. My sympathy to Sally and family.
Bill was a kind soul who would not say no to a plea for help. There was a lot that I asked him for that challenged him to a point that he would always underestimate his abilities. Despite that, he would take notes and dutifully take on whatever technology task that needed doing. Bill was the guy who made a copy of the Skagit Democrat’s website every two weeks. He was also a keen proof-reader who would frequently help with documents that needed that final touch of grammar, spelling and punctuation. He also volunteered for the AARP Taxaide program as we need technical help for our Concrete location. He did that for several years up to the week before he passed when he delivered computers and equipment to me for storage. He announced to me then that he was happy to do it again next year, “if I’m still standing” he said. That’s when he gave me the chance to tell him how helpful he has been to the many organizations he has served. I was so sad to hear that he had left us though at the same time felt that he knew how I and many others felt about the huge void he would leave. Thanks Bill! We will all miss you my friend!
I knew Bill through the Skagit Democrats. His unflappable cheerfulness and kindness were much appreciated. He dedicated a lot of behind-the-scenes labor for the party and I will really miss his presence. Sally, please know that he was loved by so many.
Bill will be greatly missed by many friends and family members. I amongst many others looked up to this wonderful gentleman. His smile, his laughter, his music warmed me. His willingness to help others made our community a better place. Thankyou for all the wonderful things you have done and may you rest in paradise evermore.
One of the kindest people I had the pleasure to know. Both Ken and I loved our time with PFLAG and getting to know Bill and Sally was a joy. Love to you and your family, Sally.
My heart goes out to you and your family, Sally, on the loss of your wonderful Bill. He was truly the epitome of a GentleMan. His countless kindnesses and constant support, always delivered with grace and smiles, helped so many people and causes in our part of the world.
The world has lost a good one. He has always helped me aspire to be the same.

Bill’s great big genuine laugh is one of the things we will miss the most. Watching him play music and groove with any of the local musicians was a joy.
Bill was my proofreader for the weekly newsletter I edited for the Skagit County Democrats. He caught many errors and had lots of constructive suggestions over the years. And he was always very gracious with his feedback – even for my most boneheaded mistakes. I also worked with Bill in providing tech support for the AARP volunteer tax preparers. He was a very helpful and patient man. I shall miss Bill a great deal. He was always one my favorite people.
