Sherri Taylor

Tuesday, October 5th, 2021

Sherri Sue Taylor, beloved wife, mother, and Grammie, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the age of 58.

She was born November 7, 1962, in Sedro-Woolley to Herman and Lois (Bailey) Knopf. On August 4, 1984 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Rick Taylor.

She was very active in her children growing up and their activities, sports, and education.  She would do anything and everything to help her children and was their biggest support. Her five grandbabies brought her very much joy.  Holidays were important to her; getting to spend time with all the family.  Her children and grandbabies have fond memories camping at Alta Lake, being out in the sunshine, and hearing her perfect laugh.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Rick Taylor; children, Raymond, Sonny (Ryein) and Nicole Taylor; parents, Lois and Herman Knopf; grandchildren, Linkin, Tennesyn, Tolen, Ransom and Owein Taylor; siblings, Wayne (Julie) Knopf, Vickie (Robin) Wammack, Ginni (Rick) Wood and Thomas (Andria) Knopf.

A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at 2:00, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Forest Park Cemetery, Concrete, WA with Pastor Bruce Martin presiding. Reception to follow at Birdsview Fire Hall.  Share your memories of Sherri and sign the online guest register.

Oh, Sherri, I cannot believe you’ve left us…you will be so missed! Thank you, with all my heart, for being my first Washington state friend. Our family moved to the Skagit Valley summer of 1974, and that fall, there you were, fresh out of Diablo, looking as big-eyed as I was feeling. In my mind, I can still see your soft gray-blue eyes and those ridiculously long lashes as you bent toward me and asked: “Are you new here?” And of course I was, and nervous about it! You responded: “Okay, good, me too! We’ll just be new friends together! And we gotta stay friends forever.” My 6th grade heart melted! Over the years, we made many memories, caused a little trouble, and laughed a whole lot. When I grumbled about my first name, which I didn’t care for at that time in life, it was you who dubbed me “Kelly Marie,” a nickname that stuck! I was with you, and so happy, when you made the choice to give yourself to Christ. Later on, we cried together about some of the unplanned stress and pain that we each were living with, from raising a child who required special care, yet we also encouraged each other, both knowing that a child with special learning needs was just as much a gift from God as all the others and we were privileged mamas to be chosen for the job. Living on the east coast has put me at quite a geographical distance from you, but our hearts always held to a true blue friendship. And now, Sherri Sue, you’ve flown off to eternity – even further away, but I hold to the confidence that we WILL see each other again. Some day. There has never been another and there never will be another Sherri. Your grateful friend, Kelly Marie 💜

    Taylor-Knopf Family,
My thoughts and prayers I send to you all. I have been praying and will continue to pray for peace and comfort for you all. I know that we all wonder why? I pray this very moment that God will give you strength to get through the days ahead. Growing up in Birdsview and knowing the knopf family the very first thing I heard in my head when I heard the news was Sherri’s unique laugh. Hold on to the memories because they are what will get you through the days to come. Sending hugs to all!
