Anthony ‘Tony’ Pater, 89, a resident of the Concrete community, passed away at his home on Wednesday December 7, 2005.
He was born on November 17, 1916 in Sioux Center, Iowa, the tenth of thirteen children of Elbert & Rikka Pater. He was raised and attended school in Sheldon, Iowa and worked on the family farm.
He later worked for the Railroad for a few years and as a truck driver for a grain company in Minnesota.
He was united in marriage to Trudy Thomas in 1952 and they came to Washington State in 1964, residing in Snohomish & Skagit Counties. Tony also worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years.
He enjoyed gardening, reading, growing vegetables in his garden and tinkering and building things. He was a real ‘fix-it’ man.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Maxine and Jeff Wallin of Thompson Falls, Idaho, Marlene & Mike Hendrickson of Concrete, Allen Pater of Arlington, Elbert Pater of Darrington and Mary Sells of Yuma, AZ. 17 grandchildren, Gary, Randy, Brandy, Dan, Jamie, Kari, Kasey, Johanna, Emily, Alex, Patty, Kira, Matt, Adam, Christie, Josh and Shelly. Several great-grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister and numerous nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Trudy Pater of Darrington.He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday December 11, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete with Pastor Rob Thomas of the Community Bible Church of Concrete officiating. Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
