ALICE GARCIA, 70, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Friday September 24, 2004 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
She was born on April 19, 1934 in Cape Mudge, B. C. Canada, the daughter of Louie & Annie Quatell Wilson. She was raised and attended school at Cape Mudge until the death of her father in 1939 when she was called upon to help care for brothers and sisters with her mother, which she did for many years. She came to Skagit County from Canada to work in the fields and seasonal agricultural work when she met her husband, Alex Garcia and they were married in Burlington in 1969.
Alice was an avid bingo player and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and knitting. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Sedro-Woolley, where she shared her love for singing in her native tongue. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Sanchez and her husband Tony of Sedro-Woolley and her son, Arnold Wilson of Campbell River, B.C. Four grandchildren, Antonio, Juanito, Karissa and Chelsey. 1 sister, Irene Wydenes and her 90 year old aunt, Eleanor Cliffe, both of Campbell River, B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex in 1996, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Wednesday September 29, 2004 at 6:00 PM, with Pastor Roger Jones of the Church of God of Prophecy officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Cape Mudge Cemetery in B.C.
