Anne Elizabeth Heffele, age 68, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

She was born July 30, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan to Glenn and Mildred Silliman Hughes. Anne grew up in Michigan attending school and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.

She was a resident of Mount Vernon for 21 years until moving to Sedro-Woolley 19 years ago. Anne was a librarian for both the Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley Public Libraries.

She was married to Richard Heffele on September 10, 1988 in Mount Vernon and they celebrated 21 years together. Anne enjoyed quilting, gardening, going to musical theatre events, and was an avid Mariner’s fan.

Anne is survived by her husband, Richard Heffele of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Two daughters, Wendy Wixson of Bellingham and Heidi Wixson of Ellensburg. Her father, Glenn Hughes of Birmingham, MI. Two step-daughters, Trisha Holmgren and her husband Craig of Big Lake and Bridget Heffele of Sedro-Woolley. Grandchildren, Tiffany and Molly Rider of Bellingham, Rochelle , Kyler, and Jadyn Holmgren of Big Lake and a great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn Holmgren of Big Lake. Her sister, Katherine Anderson of Birmingham, MI and her brother, John Hughes of Commerce TSP, MI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Hughes.

A memorial gathering to celebrate her life for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements and cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
