ARNOLD R. WOODY, beloved husband, dad, Popa and friend went to be with the Lord on Wednesday June 9, 2004, the result of an auto accident.
He was born on September 22, 1934 in Del Rio, Tennessee, the eighth of nine children of Ruben and Sally Kate Clark Woody.
He was raised and attended school in Tennessee. On December 30, 1954 he was united in marriage to Marie Yates in Newport, TN and in the spring of 1955 they came to Skagit County.
Arnold worked as a sawyer in the local shake mills for several years until illness forced his retirement. He loved to be outside, whether it was to be mowing lawns, going to garage sales, or just out meeting with people. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Arnold was a member of the Hamilton Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marie, at the family home. A son, Eddie Woody Jodi in Wisconsin. 3 daughters, Carol Harris Randy Joy of Clear Lake, Debbie Newby Joe, of Sedro-Woolley and Sandy Tacker Dale Sweeten of Hamilton. 2 chosen children, Audrey Isham and Barbara Easley. 11 grandchildren, Brandon Woody, Ashley Summar Christopher, Carlie Woody, Tracy Harris Jeff Yorke, Jessica Harris, Katelyn Woody, Rickie Hodgin Jeremy Cabello Kristie Hodgin, Chris Corbin, Joseph Newby, Tyler Tacker Cristina Reyna and Justin Tacker. 6 great-grandchildren, Taylor & Jordan Woody, Kiahna Self, Rileigh Yorke, Jeremiah Cabello, and Dylan Tacker . 2 brothers, Donald Woody Sis of Sedro-Woolley and Leon Woody Hester of Del Rio, TN. 2 sisters, Ovella Self Homer of Sedro-Woolley and Maybelle Stokley of Del Rio, TN. His mother-in-law, Evelyn Yates of Del Rio, TN. 4 sisters-in-law, Alice Henderson Bruce, Rita Turner Chester, Mae Woody and Reba Moore. 2 brothers-in-law, Haskell Yates Wanda and Donald Yates Judy. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dussie Norwood and Bonnie Stokley and 2 brothers, Joe Woody & Wiley Moore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Woody family trust fund c/o Skagit State Bank.
A Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday June 15, 2004 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Michael Osborne of the Hamilton Community Church officiating. Cremation arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
