BONNIE RUTH JACOBS, a Sedro-Woolley area resident passed away at her home on Tuesday April 2, 2002. She was 70 years of age.
She was born on October 12, 1931 in Douglas, Wyoming, a daughter of Leo & Ruth Wood Porter. She resided in Wyoming until 1945 when the family moved to Sunnyside, WA where she completed her education. She was united in marriage to Jack Jacobs in Sunnyside in 1953 and they made their home in the Seattle area. Bonnie attended Seattle Community College where she earned a nursing degree and worked for many years at Providence Hospital in Seattle until illness forced her retirement in 1998.
Bonnie’s interests included reading, cooking and homemaking, but her greatest devotion was to her family. She was actively involved in raising her grandchildren. She loved them, taught them and encouraged them in all their endeavors. They will always remember their beloved GG.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1974. Her parents, 1 brother, Darrell Porter, 1 sister, Cassie Porter and 1 granddaughter, Jacki Jacobs.
She is survived by her 6 children, John Martin of Bellingham, WA, Cassie Thomas of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Arlie Jacobs of Renton, WA, Dennis Jacobs of Everett, WA, Christina King of Mount Vernon, WA and Leo Joseph Jacobs of Graham, WA. 5 sisters, Audrey Munkres, Vernal Allen, Leo Arlene Clark, Shirley Linke and Marian Burge. 1 brother, Wendel Porter. 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
At her request there will be no funeral services. Memorials to North Puget Oncology, 2000 Hospital Dr. Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or the Skagit Hospice Foundation, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273 are suggested. Cremation arrangements under direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
