CALVIN PORTER, JR., 48, a resident of the Day Creek, community passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday June 8, 2005.
He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on January 27, 1957, the son of Calvin and Milly Cox Porter, Sr.
As a young boy his family moved to San Diego, CA where Calvin was raised and attended school, graduating from Morse High School in 1976.
Calvin worked for Sony as a service technician for over 20 years in San Diego.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Jennings in San Diego in 1985 and they made their home there until 1998 when they moved to Day Creek.
Calvin had been employed for Wal-Mart for the past 4 years and for 2 years has served as the auto department manager at the Mount Vernon store.
He enjoyed playing darts, and had been active in tournament play, playing chess and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Barbara; his son, Sean Calvin Porter and his daughter, Anna Marie Porter all at the family home in Day Creek.
2 sisters, Thomazine Porter-Alexander and her husband, Dexter and Lisa Porter of San Diego, and 1 brother, Eric Porter, also of San Diego. 4 nieces, LaChelle Shipley, Cedneesha Hugh, Rachael Jennings and Erica Porter. His mother-in-law, Florence Jennings and a brother-in-law, Craig Jennings. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Life Celebration will be held on Monday June 13, 2005 at 2:30 PM at Riverfront Park in Sedro-Woolley. Visitation will be available until 2:00 PM on Monday. Services and cremation under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
