Candus ‘Pearl’ Ammons a longtime resident of Clear Lake passed away Friday, July 11, 2003 at her home at the age of 84 years. She was born May 16, 1919 in Sylva, North Carolina the daughter of Thad and Emma Moore Conner. Pearl has been a resident of Clear Lake since 1944 coming here from North Carolina. She was married to Roy Ammons on September 9, 1934 in Georgia and he preceded her in death in February of 1977. Pearl was the oldest charter member of the First Baptist Church of Clear Lake and served as the Sunday School secretary for over 30 years. Pearl enjoyed quilting, crocheting and working in her yard. She is survived by her children Betty and her husband Lloyd Coker, Don and his wife Deanna Ammons and Patty Coggins all of Clear Lake. Sisters Lucille and her husband Earl Cooper of Whittier, NC, Annie Cordell of Asheville, NC, Marie Camby of Okanogan, WA, and a brother Ed and his wife Martha Conner of Sylva, NC. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Gene Ammons in 1996, a daughter Shirley Ammons, and a sister Mae Conard.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at 11:00AM at the Clear Lake Cemetery with Pastor John Batts of the Clear Lake Baptist Church officiating. A reception and memorial service will follow the Graveside Service at the Clear Lake Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Clear Lake Baptist Church or Skagit Hospice.
