Kent Sutton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2008. He was 69 years of age. He was born May 26, 1939 in Jackson County, North Carolina and was the son of Charles ‘Doc’ and Winnie Lou Crispe Sutton.
Kent came to Skagit County at the age of 4 and attended Lyman Grade School and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1957. Kent continued his education by attending Skagit Valley College and Washington State University.
He was united in marriage to Judy Olsen on May 6, 1961 at the Fir Conway Lutheran Church.
For many years, Kent worked as a manager and loan officer for various banks throughout Washington. In 1973, he returned to Skagit County and later owned and operated the KOA Campground north of Burlington for 4 years. He managed his fathers shoe repair business, Doc’s Shoe Repair and later worked for E-Z Way Refinishing Products for 15 years. Most recently, he was a courtesy driver for I-5 Auto World.
Kent was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church and had served as a Deacon, Trustee, Treasurer, and presently was serving on the Long Range Building Committee.
He loved to read, camp, travel in his RV on many wonderful trips with family and friends, and was a avid NASCAR fan. None of his hobbies could compare to the love he experienced with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Kent is survived by his wife, Judy Sutton of the family home in Conway. His children, Jana Berrey and her husband, Walt of Sedro-Woolley and Brad Sutton and his wife, Barbie of Sammamish. Six grandchildren, Allison Rosenfield and her husband, Adam, Brandon Berrey and his wife, Amanda, Charles Berrey, Rylie Sutton, Carson Sutton and Delaney Sutton. Four great-grandchildren, Jackson Rosenfield, Teyla Rosenfield, Landon Berrey and Cooper Berrey. Numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Sutton and numerous aunts and uncles.
Private Family Graveside Services will be held Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Lyman Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00PM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington with Pastor Leon Meyer officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
