Charles W. Sweeney has begun his newest journey joining our Lord in Heaven on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at his home in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 80 years. He was born August 15, 1922 in Lowell, MA the son of Edward and Mary Karen Sweeney. Charles was a resident of Wenatchee, WA for many years until coming to Skagit County in 1986 first residing at Shelter Bay near LaConner until 1994 when he moved to Sedro-Woolley. He worked in sales for over 25 years for the Singer Sewing Machine Co until operating his own company, Sweeney Sewing Center in Wenatchee for 18 years until his retirement. Charles was a veteran of WWII serving as a Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He was married to Connie Weaver on April 10, 1944 in Victorville, CA. Charles enjoyed golfing and was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley.
He is survived by his wife Connie Sweeney of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. 9 children, Jerry Sweeney and his wife Mary Jo of Seattle, Kathleen Sweeney of Sedro-Woolley, Michael Sweeney of Mount Vernon, Brian Sweeney of Sedro-Woolley, Sharon Posey and her husband Charles of Arlington, Charlene Nelson and her husband David of Snohomish, Carol DeChenne and her husband Steve of Sedro-Woolley, Bill Sweeney and his wife Nomi of Salem, OR and Kim Bennin of Sedro-Woolley. 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Patty Sweeney.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at 10:00AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Pat Chiezey, O.P., Celebrant. Cremation will follow the Services with final Inurnment at the Burlington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Hospice 1971 Hwy 20 Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
