Rev. Daniel L. Hull, 74, a longtime Clear Lake community Pastor, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle surrounded by his loving family.
Dan was born on March 10, 1934 in Marion, Ohio, the son of Vaughan & Georgeanna Greshel Hull. He was raised and attended school in Ohio until 1946 when the family moved to Tucson, Arizona where he graduated from high school in 1952. In 1953 Dan enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was a F-86 flight instrument instructor. On July 8, 1956 he was united in marriage to Eleanor J. Nelson in Kankakee, Illinois and they traveled to several Air Force bases until Dan’s discharge in 1957. From 1957 until 1964 they resided in Phoenix, AZ where Dan attended Grand Canyon College where he earned his degree in Mathematics. In 1961 Dan and his brother Keith co-founded ‘Wings for Christ International’, where they would fly pastors into remote areas in Utah, Arizona and Mexico to minister at small churches. That organization still exists today.
Dan was pastor and evangelist at several communities throughout California until 1979 when he and family moved to Sedro-Woolley and Dan became pastor at the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake, where he served for 19 years. Dan also worked as an electrical engineer at Boeing for 15 years. He enjoyed swimming, hunting and fishing and most recently enjoyed traveling, going on mission trips to Australia, England and Scotland.
Dan is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Eleanor. His children and their spouses, Eric & Pamela Hull of Mount Vernon, Steve & Janet Hull of Clear Lake, Tim & Brenda Hull, Major Mahlon & Laura Hull, Charlene & Patrick Dillon, John & Bonnie Hull and Pamela & Elliott Jackson all of Sedro-Woolley. 1 sister, Kathleen Turner of Waco, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Richard & Keith Hull.
The family request memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake.
A Life Celebration will be held on Friday, March 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake with Pastor John Batts officiating. Private family interment services will be held at the Clear Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be available Tuesday thru Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm, Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 pm where Mrs. Hull will receive guests and on Friday from 9 am to noon.
Services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
