After an extended illness, Darlene L. Soderberg, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2006 in Mount Vernon, WA, one day following her son Randy’s memorial service who was murdered 22 years ago and who was waiting at the door to welcome her.
She was born January 14, 1935 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the daughter of Fred and Edna Rapp Bryant.
Darlene grew up in Sedro-Woolley, attending school and graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1953. She was married to Arnold Soderberg on October 4, 1957 and they had just celebrated 49 years together. She attended Skagit Valley College receiving her LPN Degree. Over the years Darlene worked at C.E. Bingham Bank, Northern State Hospital, Life Care Center of Skagit Valley and Mira Vista Care Center .
Darlene enjoyed knitting, sewing, embroidery, and stamp collecting. She also enjoyed playing cards, pinochle, and going to the casino.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold Soderberg of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Her son, Rick Soderberg of Sedro-Woolley. 7 grandchildren, Shelly Fields of Sedro-Woolley, Melissa Shonitsky of Theresa, NY, David McCoy of Sedro-Woolley, Ronnie Epperson, Billy McCoy, Randy Epperson, and Clint McCoy all of Oregon and 4 great- grandchildren. A sister, Joyce Marsula of Bellingham and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Ron and Randy and a sister, Beverly.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Tim Farnam of the Cascade Christian Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials are suggested to the Michael J.
