DONALD ROY MEYER, 79, a resident of the Concrete area, passed away on Thursday January 15, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
Don was born on September 16, 1924 in Snohomish, WA, the son of Jasper & Sylvia Eastman Meyer. He was raised and attended school in Snohomish. In April of 1943 Don joined the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during WW II. After his discharge in 1946 he returned to the Everett & Snohomish area. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Lillian McDaniel in Seattle. During the Korean war Donald re-enlisted in the Army. Some of that time was spent playing drums in the Army Air Corps band. After his second discharge Don worked as a bus driver for Metro in the Seattle area for 20 years. He then moved to Snohomish where he took over operation of the family grocery store. He and Lillian also managed motels in Washington and Oregon until their retirement and settling in Concrete in the late 1980’s.
Don loved music and was an accomplished drummer, playing in several bands over the years.
Don is survived by his wife, Lillian, at the family home in Concrete. 1 sister, Glenyce Kruiswyk of Canby, Oregon and a niece, Karen Fitch.
