DONNA ROSE CARPENTER SIMMONS, 69, a resident of Darrington, passed away Friday, January 16, 2004 at Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington.
She was born Dec. 30, 1934 in Burlington, WA, the daughter of Ralph J. and Harriet A. Walters Jones. She was raised and grew up in Sedro-Woolley, where she attended the Church of God of Prophecy Church. Donna loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her hobbies included listening to Bluegrass music, playing cards, playing pool, gardening and canning, collecting coins for her yearly trips with Sid to Sparks, Nevada, talking, and eating at the Canton Chinese restaurant.
She married Sid Simmons July 20, 1996 in Darrington, WA at the Bluegrass Festival. Donna was preceded in death by her first husband, John Porter Carpenter; infant son, Charles Lee Jones; infant daughter, Jones; sister, Marilyn Young, brother, Phillip Jones and great-grandson Chad Todd.
She is survived by her husband, Sid Simmons, of Darrington; 6 daughters; Karen Fay Doyle of Forks, WA, Barbara June Carpenter of Nampa, ID, Martha Jane Gribble of Sedro-Woolley, Crystal Lynn Carpenter of Clear Lake, Debra Jean Carpenter of Sedro-Woolley and Patty Fay Brotzel and her husband, Mike of Burlington. Grandkids; Jonathon, Kristopher, Laci, Wesley, Jennifer, Michael M., Todd, Kyle, Michael G., Jasmine, Kelli, Ricky and Haley Rose. 4 great-grandchildren. 1 sister, Leona Self aunt mommy. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including, Pat Morgn of Sedro-Woolley and Mary Maldonado of Sacramento, CA.
Memorial Services will be held at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Thursday, January 22, 2004, at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Richard Bear officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, Northwest Affiliate, 4414 Woodland Park Ave. N, Seattle, WA 98103-7499.
