Doris Mae Welch, 73, a loving wife and mother passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 during a brief stay at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on December 29, 1933 in Blyth, Montana, the daughter of Russell J. and Sarah F. Dannat Swett.
Doris was raised and attended school in Mount Vernon, graduating from Mount Vernon High School. She was an LPN and worked at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley until its closing.
Doris was united in marriage to Frank Welch on February 23, 1972 in Sedro-Woolley and they made their home on Prairie Rd. in Sedro-Woolley.
She was an avid gardener; enjoyed boating, beachcombing and being with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Frank at the family home. 5 daughters, Debbie Gatti and her companion Dave Buchanan of Sedro-Woolley, Chris Jungquist and her husband Jeff of Mount Vernon, Terri and Chuck Harris of Mount Vernon, Venessa McBride and her husband Ken of Alger and Christina Hall and her husband Stewart of Fresno, CA. 13 grandchildren, Sarah, Jeremy, Ryan, Matt, Nicole, Laura, Warren, Melinda, Valerie, J.J., Blake, Joshua and Jacob and 4 great-grandchildren. 2 brothers, Chuck Swett and Russell Swett and his wife Delores. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Avon U.M.C. , 13743 Avon Allen Road, Mount Vernon, with Rev. Edd Denton officiating. A fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20 and on Monday, January 22, 2007 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Lemley Chapel. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to Skagit Valley Humane Society, 18911 Kelleher Rd., Burlington, WA 98233.
