Doris May Harrold

Thursday, April 1st, 2004

Doris May Harrold, our beloved mother and friend, passed away on April 1, 2004 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Doris was born August 3, 1935 in Guthrie, Oklahoma, the daughter of George and Pauline Brauns Farr. Her parents gradually moved west, finally homesteading near Anchorage, Alaska in 1952. In November 1959 she married E.N.Scott Harrold. They settled in Anchorage and raised a family of four children until 1970 when the family relocated to Mt. Vernon, WA. After their divorce in 1976 she worked most of her career with the Wolfkill Fertilizer Co. in Mt. Vernon, and made many life-long friendships with local farmers. Her customers would often stop by just to visit even when not needing anything. She loved to travel and in later years, collected unique art and glassware. In retirement, her time was spent with family and volunteering. Mother kept well informed and usually had an opinion on most subjects and was ever-willing to share her views. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by friends and family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dan Farr and her eldest daughter Diana Knutzen. She is survived by her daughters, Donna Ackley and Denise Williams, Stan. Her son, Mike Harrold, Debbie. Son-in-law, Duane Knutzen. Grandchildren, Shawn, Bradlee, Kash, Tyler and Lisa, and one great-grand daughter, Sydney Ann.
Mother, we love you and miss you very much!
