Dorothy M. Bianchini, 76, a longtime Skagit Valley resident, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at her home in Sedro-Woolley surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 17, 1932 in Bismark, North Dakota, the daughter of Casper & Mervin Thomas Bjornstad. The family later moved to Acme in Whatcom County where she was raised and attended grade school and she attended Mount Baker High School.
Dorothy had made her home in Concrete for many years, where in 1965 she opened and operated the Shanty Drive-In. In 1967 she was united in marriage to Fred Bianchini and together they operated the Drive-In until 1975 when they purchased and operated the Hub Tavern for several years.
In the mid 1980’s she and Fred moved to Sedro-Woolley and Dorothy worked as a real estate agent for several more years until her retirement.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Fred at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. Two sons and their wives, Larry & Geri Comstock of Spokane, WA and Tom & Linda Comstock of Sedro-Woolley. Five step-children, Cecelia McDonald Kyle of Mount Vernon, Alexis Zock Carl of Seattle, Paul Bianchini Mary of Day Creek, Dennis Bianchini of Burlington and Elaine Dean of Sedro-Woolley. One brother, Leonard Bjornstad Delores of Bellingham and three sisters, Darlene Gardner Don of Gig Harbor, Donita Cone of Sequim and Louie Tritt Arnie of Chelan. 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Loyal Bjornstad; a sister, Delores Strand and a grandson, Colby Comstock.
The family requests that memorials be made to Skagit Hospice, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
A Life Celebration potluck gathering will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Fellowship hall in Sedro-Woolley. Private family inurnment will be held at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
