DUANE LLOYD HUSTON, 83, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home on Saturday May 22, 2004 surrounded by his loving family.
Duane was born on June 27, 1920 in Chambers, Nebraska, the son of Omer & Frances Elliott Huston. The family moved to Washington in 1933 making their home in Hamilton where Duane was raised and attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. After the service he moved to Seattle where on June 29, 1950 he was united in marriage to Virginia Piechotta.
Duane owned and operated his own taxi cab, Far West Cab #75, in the Seattle area for over 30 years, before moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1987. Duane was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Sedro-Woolley, the Eagles Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Ginny. 2 sons, Bruce Huston Lisa of Lake Stevens and Dennis Huston Shannon Tarabochia and children of Seattle. 2 daughters, Shirley Karban Bill of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Carol Pletz Jim of Edmonds. 9 grandchildren, Colin Karban Amy, Arianne and Karlie Pletz Mehdi Asaei, Jenna Huston, Karissa Spafford, Lindsay, Nick & Alexandra Huston and 1 great-grandson, Skylar Karban. 1 brother, Dale Huston Joann of Sedro-Woolley and 2 sisters, Larie Baker Newton of Burlington and Francis Hayes of Mount Vernon and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Omer & Don Huston and 5 sisters, Bernice Adams, Clarice Davis, Alda Boatz, La Verne Daily and Ethel Freeman.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM followed by a Funeral Mass on Friday May 28, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Paul Magnano, Celebrant. A fellowship will immediately follow services at the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Holyrood Cemetery in Seattle.
