Earl Dale Lanning, 54, a lifelong resident of Clear Lake passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
He was born the son of Jamie and Florene May Lanning on October 25, 1950 in Sedro-Woolley. He attended schools in Clear Lake and Sedro-Woolley. He was a member of the football team at Sedro-Woolley High School, and graduated with the class of 1969. After graduation, he worked in Alaska for a few years. After returning to Sedro-Woolley he was involved with the Loggerodeo and the Deming Log Show. Dale had numerous jobs, working for the City of Sedro-Woolley, Wilder Construction, Miller Shingle Co., C.M. Trucking, and Peter Kewit Contractors building modular units for the Alaska oil fields. In May of 1986 he suffered a spinal injury. Dale later worked for Chinook Enterprises, helping challenged adults making parts for the Boeing Co. He also attended Skagit Valley College studying computers and construction design. He was a member of the Labors Union # 901, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and his garden. His family and grandchildren were a major part of his life. Dale was often seen on the streets of Clear Lake in his wheelchair greeting his friends and acquaintances.
He is survived by his father, Jamie Lanning and Barb, and a brother, James Lanning, all of Clear Lake. Three daughters, Heather Criollo and her husband Hernan of Union, NJ, Heidi Hash and her husband Rich of Spokane, WA, and Ashley Lanning of Union, NJ. 6 grand-children, Hayden, Hunter, Hannah, Hallie, Ian, and Sophia. Also, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 19, 2005 at 11:00 am at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Tim Hedberg of the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church officiating. Cremation and arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. The family suggests memorials be made to the IOOF Hall in Clear Lake.
