Edwin Ray Hess Sr. a resident of Acme for the past six years, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 86 years. He was born September 27, 1918 in Elwood, Kansas, the son of Robert and Martha Pillow Hess. Edwin was a resident of the Rosemead, California area for many years working as a salesman in the food brokerage business. He was a member of the school board for the Rosemead School District and was a Girl Scout leader. Edwin was married to Beverly Willick on May 26, 1939 in California and she preceded him in death in February of 2000. Upon leaving California, Edwin resided in Arlington and the Lake Goodwin area until moving to Sedro-Woolley, residing there for 27 years and for the past 6 years he has resided with his daughter in Acme. Edwin is survived by his children Diane Sepos and her husband Stephen of Acme and Edwin R. Hess Jr and his wife Matild of Florence, OR. 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A brother Charles L. Hess of Grants Pass, OR and a sister Roberta Gylling of Citris Heights, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, a daughter Sondra Hess, and a great granddaughter Adrianna Sifuentes.
Inurnment will be at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme, WA. Arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
