EMMA ERNAMAE FOX WISHERD, 59, a resident of the Sedro-Woolley area, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday July 14, 2004.
She was born on November 24, 1944 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, one of ten children of Ernest & Merle Ammons Fox.
She was raised in Lyman where she attended grade school, then attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Hanson in 1967. In 1981 she married Don Wisherd in Sedro-Woolley and they made their home in Bow and then Sedro-Woolley. For several years Emma worked for the city of Burlington, working on the city maintenance crew, she also worked as a group co-ordinator at Swinomish Casino. She was a school bus driver for the Arlington and Mount Vernon School Districts and she also drove a berry bus for the Scott’s Berry Farm in Bow during the summer. But her most enjoyable job was being grandma to her three grandchildren and being that second mom to many kids in the community. Emma enjoyed gardening and horses and had been a member of the Sedro-Woolley Riding Club. She was also a longtime member of the Hamilton Community Church.
Emma is survived by her husband, Don Wisherd at the family home. Her children, Andy Hanson and his wife Erin of Mount Vernon and Angel Hanson and her companion Terry Houser of Seattle, and a step-son, Donald Wisherd of Seattle. Three grandchildren, Abbi & Preston Hanson and Isiah Wisherd. Five brothers, Jim Fox Estella of Sedro-Woolley, Mike Fox Daisy of Marysville, Victor Fox Kathy of St. Maries, ID, Larry Fox Monica of Hamilton and Ken Fox Karla of Snohomish. 3 sisters, Pauline Coward Russell of Birdsview, Ruby Elliott of Everett and Shirley Hots Larry of Snohomish. Her maternal grandparents, Frank & Blanche Moore of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Merle and a sister, Kathy Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 20, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Mike Osborne of Hamilton Community church officiating. Interment will follow at the Hamilton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hamilton Community Church. A potluck fellowship will follow the graveside at Cascade Middle School in Sedro-Woolley.
