Esther Louise Hunter, age 81, a resident of Anacortes, WA passed away un-expectantly on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at Island Hospital in Anacortes.
She will be remembered as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great- Grandmother, and especially as a Classy Lady.
She was born October 27, 1923 in Redmond, Oregon, the daughter of Blight Llewellyn Buckley and Minnie Neola Chapman Buckley.
Esther was raised in Bremerton, WA and received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington. She was wed to future doctor Joe E. Hunter on August 22, 1945, one day before he shipped out with the U.S. Army to the Pacific Theater.
Upon completion of Joe’s medical school training, they moved to Sedro-Woolley residing there until moving to Anacortes in 1991.
She enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and reading. Esther was very involved with volunteer work her entire life, including the P.E.O., MONA, the Gaches Mansion, and DEPOT art galleries as well as with the United General Hospital Guild. She also was an active member of the Silver Sneakers Exercise Group in Anacortes. Later in life, she attended Western Washington University and studied Child Development.
Esther is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Joe E. Hunter of Anacortes. Three sons and their families; Geoff Hunter and grandchildren Joshua and his wife Amber and Adrianne; John Hunter and his wife Roberta and grandchildren Amanda Gibbons and her husband Jason, grandson Ian Hunter and great-granddaughter Gracie Gibbons; Andy Hunter and his wife Marianne, and grandchildren Stephanie, Jason, and William. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Wanda Jane Buckley.
Friends and Family are invited to share in a Celebration of Esther’s Life on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at 2:00 PM at the home of John and Roberta Hunter, 5043 Wildlife Acres, Sedro-Woolley.
