Faith Evelyn Moritz Parr, 88, a Mount Vernon area resident, died on Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.

She was born on April 23, 1920 in New Underwood, South Dakota, the daughter of Pastor William & Tinnie Coop Goodrow. While still an infant, Faith’s family moved to Washington, briefly settling in Orting before moving to Lopez Island in the mid 1920’s. She attended grade school on Lopez Island, then moved to Sedro-Woolley, living with family friends where she attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1938.

On September 11, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harry Moritz on Lopez Island and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. In the early 1930’s Harry had purchased a local greenhouse business, Sedro-Woolley Greenhouse, and he and Faith operated that business for many years until selling the business to their daughter and son-in-law, Gail & Leonard Carlson in 1971. Faith also worked as a sales clerk at the Duchess Apparel Clothing Store for several years. Harry passed away in 1983 and in September 1985 she married Willis Parr. He preceded her in death in 1995.
Faith was a charter member and past president of Soroptimist International in Sedro-Woolley, member and past president of the Mount Vernon Emblem Club #1604 and a member of the Pythian Sisters. She also enjoyed painting and golfing.

Faith is survived by her children and their spouses, Gail & Leonard Carlson of Goodyear, AZ, Marilyn & Rod Bruland of Everson, WA and Wayne & Becky Moritz of Sedro-Woolley. Three step-children, Adrian Parr, Dianne Bjorn and Christy Sorensen. One sister, Alda Gray of Union Gap, WA and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, she was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Hilton, Byron, Dwayne, Dwight and her twin, Forrest Goodrow; three sisters, Hester and Bernice Goodrow and Bernita Hemenover and a great-grandson, A.J. Armey.

The family extends a gracious thank you to the staff at Life Care Center of Skagit Valley for their special care for Faith during her stay.
Memorials are suggested to the Sedro-Woolley High School Alumni Association, PO Box 509, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley of Trinity United Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
