Flora Leona Hendrickson, age 91, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at the Anacortes Adult Family Home in Anacortes, WA. She was born October 17, 1914 in Hot Springs, AR, the daughter of John and Letha Caldwell Morgan.
Leona was married to Burnie Owens in December of 1928 and they moved to Anacortes in 1934 and were later divorced in 1938. She later married George ‘Bus’ Hendrickson on April 16, 1953 in Burlington.
They resided in Sedro-Woolley until 1959 when they moved to Eureka, CA where they owned and operated a motel, then later a restaurant and bar. Then the last few years, she helped her husband commercial fish and crab until their retirement in 1974 when they returned to Burlington. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and will be remembered as quite the outdoors person. Her final years were spent at Anacortes Adult Family Care in Anacortes.
Leona is survived by her three sons, J.T. Owens and his wife Della of Anacortes, Vernon Owens of Stites, ID, and John E. Owens and his wife Ruth of Anacortes. A daughter Bonny Stevenson and her husband Richard of Mount Vernon. Step-daughter, Ardith Knoebel and her husband Jay of Justice, IL and a sister-in-law, Irene Morgan of Sedro-Woolley. 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George ‘Bus’ Hendrickson in May of 1992, sisters, Evelyn and Ada, and brothers, Alva, Elie, Tom, and Luther Morgan and a granddaughter, Linda Owens.
Memorial Services will be Monday, February 6, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Inurnment will be at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Children’s Hospital PO Box C5371 Seattle, WA 09105.
