FRANCES MARIE ADAMS, 78, a life long Skagit County resident, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, surrounded by her loving family & friends.
She was born on June 21, 1924 in Lyman, WA, the daughter of Harley & Connie Metcalf Perry. Frances attended Lyman Elementary School, Hamilton High School and then Skagit Valley College, where she received her LPN degree.
She was united in marriage to George L. Adams on June 29, 1940 in Sedro-Woolley and they made their home in Lyman & Hamilton. George preceded her in death on May 8, 2000, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Frances was known for the love and care which she extended to loved ones and friends alike. Above all else she loved the Lord and served him faithfully. She was a faithful member of the Burlington Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terry & Grady Mathis. Her son and daughter-in-law, Lee & Willyne Adams. A special nephew who was like a son, Russ Bailey and his wife Carol. 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Leanne & Bob Hickman, Gina & Jeff Colglazier, Jason & Kelli Mathis, Greg & Becky Adams and Tracey & Mike Zitkovich. 12 great-grandchildren, Erin, Derek and Kyle Hickman, Colby and Dustin Mathis, Zachary, Jordyn and Drew Adams and Matthew, Katie, Oakly and Anthony Zitkovich. 1 brother & sister-in-law, Richard & Vadell Bear. 1 sister, Betty Smith. A brother & sister-in-law, Glen & Gerry Adams and special friends, Hope Fisher and her family and Walley Dowdle and Mack Judd.
Frances was also preceded in death by her father, Harley Perry, her mother & step-father, Connie & Cub Bear and a sister, Evelyn Perry.
The family would like to acknowledge Dr. David Schilling and also the nursing staff at Skagit Valley Hospital for their loving care for their mother. They also suggest that memorials be made to the Burlington Church of God in Frances’s memory.
Graveside services will be held at the Hamilton Cemetery on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Reverend Richard Bear of the Burlington Church of God officiating.
