She worked on the family farm milking cows and driving and repairing farm equipment and represented the dairy industry when she served as Skagit County Dairy Princess.
She worked at the Bendix Corporation; was a dental hygienist, a pilot car driver during the construction of the AL-CAN hi-way, and was a cook at several eating establishments around Skagit County. She was also very knowledgeable about computers, from their operation to rebuilding them.
She enjoyed growing flowers in her garden, fishing for steelhead on the Skagit River and was a member of the Wildcat Steelhead Club. She prospected for gold and enjoyed just walking on the beach.
