George Victor Yost, Sr., 82, a resident of Everett, WA passed away on Saturday March 5, 2005 at his home.
George was born November 1, 1922 in Rochester, New York the son of Stephen James and IsaDora Beringer Yost.
He married Marilyn Gale Ross on February 25, 1945 in Miami, FL. George graduated with honors from the Theological Seminary at Emmanuel Missionary College in 1950. He later went on to receive a Master in Educational Administration from Vanderbilt University. He spent his life working as a Minister of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served in the U.S. army during WWII as a medic. He moved on to work as the Educational Secretary for Kentucky-Tennessee Seventh Day Adventist Conference. George retired at age 65, afterward he and his wife spent 5 years in Guam, where he worked as the Educational Secretary for the Guam-Micronesian Conference. They moved to Korea where he served running the Seventh Day Adventist Serviceman Center for the U.S. Military. He moved on to Work for the Serviceman Center in Frankfurt Germany for another four year. Upon his return to the U.S. he moved in with his son in Everett, Washington for the next eight years. He remained an active member of the seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his two sons, David Edward Yost of FL, Kenneth Todd Yost and his wife, Svetlana Yevgenyevna of Everett. Brother, Stephen James Yost Jr. and wife, Ruby of FL. Sister, Virginia Lloyd of NY. 7 nieces and nephews, 8 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Gale Yost; son, George Victor Yost, Jr.; Grandson, George V. Yost, III; Sister-in-law, Adrienne Muff; Brother-in-law, Edward Lloyd and Niece, Adrienne Sissy Muff.
At his request, a private family service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes, WA. Memorials may be made in memory of George Victor Yost Sr. to ADRA 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Springs, MD. 20904-6600. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel.
