Gerald J. Jerry Mulrooney, passed away June 17, 2004 at the Skagit Valley Life Care Center in Sedro-Woolley, Washington at the age of 85.
Jerry was born in Mt. Hope Wisconsin on October 28, 1918, the only son of Thomas and Mary Ellen Friar Mulrooney. Jerry spent his childhood on the family farm, which supported them well during the depression, in 1944 he joined the US Navy going through training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes Illinois. He served on the USS Lassen as a motor machinist’s mate in WWII and was awarded the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific ‘ 3 stars and the Philippine Liberation.
Upon release from the Navy in 1946, Jerry came to Washington State to find work. He worked in heavy construction and stated that career at the building or Ross Dam, where he became concrete foreman. After many years in construction work, he then worked for WRP in Sedro-Woolley, until his retirement in 1977. For many years after his retirement, he enjoyed winters in Florida and summers in Sedro-Woolley.
Jerry is survived by his former wife, Myrtle Mulrooney of Sedro-Woolley, son Tom Mulrooney of Priest River, Idaho. His daughters Mary Mulrooney of Sedro-Woolley, Ruth Ann Miller and Karen Davis of Florida, step-daughters Karen White and Lynette Pollard of Sedro-Woolley, and one sister Eileen Millen of Wisconsin. Numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters.
