GERALD LEE ‘JERRY’ JORGENSEN, 57, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 27, 2004 at the Veterans Hospital in Seattle.
He was born on July 14, 1947 in Seattle, WA, the son of Phillip & Dorothy Bennett Jorgensen. He was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley, graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1966.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from November 1966 to November 1968, serving in Viet Nam where he sustained injuries and received the Purple Heart accommodation.
For over 30 years Jerry worked for the Washington State Dept. of Transportation, retiring in 2002. He was united in marriage to Vikki Whited in Hamilton on June 26, 1992.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Skagit React, Skagit Muzzleloaders, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Viet Nam Veterans of America.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything to do with the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Vikki, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His children, Jeanna Cadle, and her husband, Norman of Sedro-Woolley, Gerald Bodily, and his wife, Laurie of Vernal, Utah, Raylene Bodily of Bellingham, WA and Albert Jorgensen of Sedro-Woolley. 3 step-children, Steven Clontz of Port Angeles, WA, Nikki Clontz of Sedro-Woolley and Donald Clontz of Colorado. 10 grandchildren, Kourtney, Corbyn, Cameron, Tanner, Brenden, Carson, Jordan, Trey, Raven and Jarath. His brother, Phillip Jorgensen, Jr. and his wife, Jean of Ferndale, WA; his sister, Joanne Gilbert and her husband, Lloyd of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy J. Ritter and his father, Phillip Jorgensen, Sr.
Funeral services will be held at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Thursday August, 5, 2004 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Military Honors provided by members of the George Baldridge Post 43 American Legion.
