Grant Lamont Jensen, a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 60 years, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, WA at the age of 100 years.
He was born December 21, 1904 in Kilgore, Idaho, the 7th of 14 children of Chris and Anna Kelson Jensen.
Grant grew up in the Kilgore, Idaho area where he attended school.
He began his working career as a janitor for a one room school house in Kilgore, ID. He later worked as a mail carrier, was a wagon master and drove a 3 team wagon from Idaho to Nevada. He worked in the California gold mines and later in the Carson City, Nevada silver mines and trucked ore over Donner Pass to Sacramento. He worked as a ranch manager and ranch wrangler for a dude ranch in California, and also delt black jack in Reno and later worked as a car salesman.
Grant eventually moved to the Sedro-Woolley area working for the Lone Star Cement Plant in Concrete as a burner, finally retiring after 20 years of service.
After retirement, Grant enjoyed traveling with his trailer, especially to Arizona. He married Katherine Anderson on April 14, 1989 in Sedro-Woolley and they enjoyed dancing at the Hillcrest Lodge in Mount Vernon. He also enjoyed carpentry work and was a member of the Elks.
Grant had just celebrated his 100th birthday last December and he was able to share this event with many relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Jensen of Sedro-Woolley. 3 daughters, Betty Boyack and her family of Boise, ID, Norma Jean Ekwortzel and her family of Shepard, MT, and Tana McKee and her family of Elk Grove, CA. 1 step-son, Edward Anderson and his family of Eagle River, AK and 2 step-daughters, Jacqueline Faupel and Sally Johnson and their families, all of Burlington. Numerous step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. A special nephew, Darrell Nickson and his wife, Peg and their family of Roseburg, OR and a special niece, Beverly Andriash and her husband, John and their family of Canada.
