GRAYCE M. HALSKOV, 84, a resident of the Birdsview community, passed away on Wednesday November 3, 2004 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on December 9, 1919 in Reno, Nevada, the daughter of Walter F. and Mary Ann Raddly Gage. She was raised and attended school in Smith Valley, Nevada.
Grayce was united in marriage to Eric Halskov on March 31, 1939 and they made their home in North Eastern British Columbia, Canada, where they operated a hunting lodge for several years. They later went into insurance sales. Grayce came to Washington where she made her home in several locations and worked at a variety of occupations. She worked in Real Estate Sales, worked for Boeing, was a waitress and bartender, and in her 70’s was a taxi driver for Kitty’s Taxi in Mount Vernon. For the past eight years Grayce was an in home care provider for ‘The Elderly’, something she never considered herself to be. Many of Grayce’s care recipients were younger than her.
She was a talented artist; she loved gardening, decorating and crafts. She was also a wonderful seamstress, making many little dresses and one beautiful wedding dress, all with love.
Grayce lived life everyday, worked hard until the end, and made many friends along the way. She leaves behind many good memories and will be missed.
Grayce is survived by her daughters, Jamie Frazier of B.C., Canada and Pam Aldridge and her husband, Jackie of Sedro-Woolley. Six grandchildren, Eric, Sean, Andra, Christopher, Jesse and Jake, and one great-granddaughter, Chanel. Two sisters, Lois Snyder and her husband, John and Thelma Gage, all of California. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Eric and a son, Brian Halskov.
At her request there will be no funeral services. Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Skagit Valley, 18911 Kelleher Road, Burlington, WA 98233.
