HAZEL L. MacLELLAN, 83, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2004 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born at Roan Mountain, Tennessee, on August 18, 1920, the daughter of Marion & Lue Burleson Knight. She was raised and attended school in Tennessee. As a young woman she came to Skagit County, settling in Sedro-Woolley. On July 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Guy MacLellan and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. For many years Hazel worked at the Skagit Grotto restaurant in Sedro-Woolley. She and Guy then purchased Evelyn’s Tavern in Clear Lake, which together they operated for several years. She also worked for Christian Seed in La Conner germinating seeds.
She was a member of both the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliaries. For enjoyment she enjoyed working, and being with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Mangeng and her husband Bernie of Oak Harbor and her son, Bill Campbell and his wife Judy of San Jose, CA. 3 sisters, Bessie Swan of Spruce Pine, NC, Mabel Walker of Norfolk, VA and Juanita Martin of Sedro-Woolley. Six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, a daughter, Louise Jewett, a son, Sammy Davis and 4 brothers, Bill, Bob, Junior and George Knight.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
Funeral Services for our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Interment will follow at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
