HELEN MARIE ADAMS, 100, a longtime Burlington area resident, passed away on Saturday August 23, 2003. Helen resided in her own home until July when she moved to the Golden Rule Adult Family Home in Mount Vernon where she then received loving and attentive care.
Helen was born on March 12, 1903 in Manistique, Michigan, the daughter of George & Bertha Clemmons Brooks. As a child she lived in Michigan, coming to Washington in 1908, living in Laurel area in Whatcom County. In 1910 she moved to La Conner where she went to school. In 1920 she moved to Sultan, WA. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Adams in Everett, WA on December 26, 1924 and they made their home in Oregon until coming to Sedro-Woolley in 1935. Other than for a 10 year period that they lived in Whatcom County, they made their home in Burlington together until Lawrence’s death in 1980. Helen enjoyed crocheting, baking and was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, DeLora & Neil ‘Les’ McIlrath and son & daughter-in-law, Lawrence ‘Buck’ & Ursula Adams, all of Sedro-Woolley. 8 grandchildren, Jan Mike Gradl, Cheri McIlrath, Lisa David Svaren, Steve Eva Adams, Suzy Adams, Janice Mike Clarke, Jeff Adams and Karen Mike Marchant. 5 step-grandchildren, Buzz Barbara Forbes, Patty Bob Wohlsnack, Betty Dick Noggle, Angela Dwayne Libengood and Michelle Milt Rye. 11 great-grandchildren, Courtney & Kacee Gradl, Adam & Ashley Mitchell, Alex & Kelsey Svaren, Patricia & Helen Adams, Sophie Clarke and Robert & Emily Marchant. Also 9 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lawrence, a son, Don Adams, 2 sisters, Irene & Neville and a brother, Clyde Brooks.

A graveside inurnment service will be held Thursday August 28, 2003 at 11:00 AM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Pastor Walt Rice of Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating.
