HOWARD LEE PAUL, 81, a longtime Burlington area resident passed away on Thursday May 2, 2002 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley. He was born on August 22, 1920 in North Carolina attaining his education there. In 1937 he joined the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. He was united in marriage to Ora Blanche Henson in Everett, WA on March 28, 1941. Following his discharge in 1947 they moved briefly to California then to Hamilton, WA, finally settling in Forks, WA in 1950 where he worked in the logging industry. In 1960 they moved to Burlington where his home has been for 42 years. He began working at Mount Baker Plywood in Bellingham as a shareholder. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, riding his bike to work in Bellingham whenever possible. He retired in 1983. Howard also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the American Legion in Burlington and Forks.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Blanche, of Burlington. 3 daughters, Cheryl Skillman and her husband Stuart of Mount Vernon, WA, Patricia Paul of Sedro-Woolley, WA and Sandra Dahl of Honolulu, HI. 4 grandchildren, Chrissy & Michelle Skillman and Jason & Melissa Dahl.
2 great-grandchildren, Brandon Dahl & Isiah Skillman. 3 sisters, Matty Williamson, Suda Margaret Wooden and Dorothy Hardison all of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several siblings. The family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held Monday May 6, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley, WA. Interment will follow at the Lyman City Cemetery with military honors.
