Jack ‘Dean’ Ledford

Long time Concrete resident Dean Ledford, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 19, 2005 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley after a long battle with emphysema. He was 69 years of age.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and those who just got to hear him tell a story.
He was born on the Ledford family farm on August 28, 1935 in Coweta Valley near Franklin, North Carolina, the son of Charlie & Pearl Stamey Ledford.
Dean was a very down to earth person with great values, a wealth of knowledge and a huge heart.
Dean moved to Skagit County in 1954 where he met the love of his life, Geraldine Farr.
He worked in the woods for many years before becoming disabled in the mid 1970’s. Dean spent many more years hunting, fishing, whittling, and telling stories; many of which he actually started to believe himself. He took great pride in his huge garden and loved to share his secrets with those who would listen.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Pearl Ledford and two brothers Charlie, Jr. Tud and George Allen Ledford.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jerry Ledford at the family home in Concrete. 2 sons, Scotty and Charlie Ledford and 2 daughters, Sherri Ledford and Vickie Past and her husband, Jim all of Concrete. 2 grandchildren, Jennifer ‘Sam’ Nieshe and her husband, Dan of Fayetteville, NC and James ‘Jarvis’ Past, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ and 3 great grandchildren. 2 brothers, John Will and Jimmy Ray Ledford and 4 sisters, Sally Wooten, Birdie Mae Vinson, Ruby Seaborn, and Rachel Gunter all of North Carolina. Also numerous friends and other relatives.
Dean wished for no formal service. However, there will be a ‘Celebration of his Life’ at the Legion Hall in Concrete on Saturday, June 25th from 12:00 noon until 3 pm, which will be open to all who wish to attend. Memorials are suggested to the Concrete Fire Dept.
Arrangements and cremation under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
