James Lloyd Jim Smith

It is with unbearable sorrow that we announce the departure of our beloved husband and father, James Jim Lloyd Smith, at 3:00 PM on Friday, January 1, 2010 at his home in Sedro-Woolley, WA with his wife at his side.

Jim was born on August 25, 1959 in Portland, Oregon, the son of James Lloyd Smith, Sr. and Rosemary Owens Smith. He was the fifth child of five.

In 1979 Jim met his true love, Debbie Ann Wornstaff, and they were married in August of 1988. All together they would spend 30 short, but cherished years in each other’s company.

When Jim was not working at Dennis’ Seven Dees Landscaping, he could be found on Mount Hood in Oregon fishing and camping with his wife and two daughters, and usually with a dog or two at his side.
In September 1998 Jim packed up his family and moved them to the rural area of Sedro-Woolley to be closer to his mother. There Jim started to build custom fishing rods and soon after went back into landscaping with his own business, Jim’s Property Service. This helped him to transform the fields into multiple crops while creating beautiful landscapes around his home.

Jim is survived by his wife, Debbie Ann Wornstaff Smith. His daughters, Rebecca Lynn Smith and Amanda Lee Smith. His grandson, Joshua James Woodring. His mother, Rosemary Smith; his brother; three sisters and by all his friends and the young men who have thought of him as a father. He was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Korky on November 24, 2004.

The family requests that memorials be made to Northwest Harvest, 711 Cherry Street, Seattle, WA 98104-1924 or online at www.northwestharvest.org

We, Jim’s family, would like to thank all of our friends who have helped us through this grieving process.

At Jim’s request there will be no formal funeral services, but an outdoor Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Visitation for Jim will be available at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley on Wednesday January 6th thru Saturday January 9th from 9am to 5pm and on Sunday January 10th by appointment. Cremation will follow under the direction of Lemley Chapel.
