JEAN EDWARD DOUGLAS, 75, a resident of Graham, Washington, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 16, 2006.
He was born on December 19, 1930 in Chelan, Washington, the son of Arthur & Gladys Stone Douglas.
He was raised and attended school in Chelan.
In 1948 he enlisted into the U.S. Army, serving his country in Europe, Japan and Korea. Following his discharge in 1968 he worked for Boeing in parts distribution, working until 1979 at which time he began working for Western State Hospital in Steilacoom as a mental health technician, retiring in 1996. Jean then volunteered his time helping developmentally disabled patients. When time allowed Jean enjoyed playing pool, painting, fishing, doing a little gambling and playing Keno.
He was united in marriage to Ardella Calkins in Tacoma on Feburay 10, 1979 and they made their home in Tacoma, moving to Graham in 2000.
Jean is survived by his wife, Ardella at the family home in Graham. 1 sister, Carol Douglas in Dayton, OR. 3 step-sons and their spouses, Jerry & Valerie Harris of Mount Vernon, Richard & Diane Harris of Sedro-Woolley and Steve & Teri Harris of Marblemount. A foster son, Fritz Bentz and his wife, Diane of Gresham, OR. 1 niece, Jane Woods, 3 nephews, Larry & Kevin Woods and Ken Adams. Also several step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Gladys; a sister, Ruth Adams and a brother, Don Douglas. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes, Heart or Leukemia Foundations or a charity of your choice.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday February 22, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by members of the George Baldridge Post 43, American Legion.
