Jean Helen Brisbin, 69, a resident of Burlington, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2009 at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley.

Jean was born on August 7, 1939 in Mount Vernon, Washington, the daughter of Arne & Fredricka Johnson Aalmo. She was raised on Camano Island and attended school in Stanwood, graduating from Stanwood High School with the class of 1957.
Jean then made her home in Seattle where she began a career in banking.

On January 18, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Brisbin in Arlington, where they made their home for four years until moving to Moses Lake. Three years later they moved to East Wenatchee and Jean worked for the Department of Social & Health Services for several years. In 1972 the Brisbin family settled in Burlington and Jean resumed her career in banking. She worked for Skagit State Bank for 25 years retiring as a loan officer.

Jean and Jim started snowbirding to Arizona in 1991. After Jean retired, they made their winter home in Apache Junction, Arizona. Jean enjoyed golfing, cooking, canning, traveling, camping, RVing and social activities. Jean also embraced her Norwegian heritage and dedicated a room in her home to it as well as traveling two times to Norway to visit relatives. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Arlington, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 27 in Apache Junction and the Skagit Valley Eagles Auxiliary, Aerie 3242 in Burlington.

Jean is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim, at the family home in Burlington. Her daughters, Deborah Davis Debbie of Burlington and Theresa Terri Scown and her husband, Steve of Mukilteo and her son, Jimmy Brisbin and his wife, Denise of Ferndale. Seven grandchildren, Kevin Davis, Samantha Scown, Melanie Brisbin, Kim and Brian Scown and Brandi and Tabitha Brisbin. Three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Hunter and Julia Brisbin. Two brothers, John Aalmo and his wife Lois of Anacortes and Harry Aalmo and his wife Janice of Graham, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Arnold Aalmo.

The family suggests memorials in Jean’s name be made to the North Puget Cancer Center, 2000 Hospital Dr., Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Larry Olsen of the Edison Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memorial Cemetery in Burlington.

Visitation will be available Thursday thru Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and on Monday from 9 AM to 1 PM at Lemley Chapel.
