Jeanita and Phil Callahan
Jeanita Ramona Davis Callahan was born on April 5, 1917 and died on August 6, 2005.
Lewis Philip Callahan was born on January 23, 1908 and died on July 11, 2001.
Jeanita and Phil have both passed to a better place.
Jeanita was born to Glee and Hazel Davis in Bellingham. As a young child her family lived on a homestead on the Skagit River near present day Diablo. Her family later moved to Sedro Woolley. She graduated with a degree in Education from Western Washington University and taught school for many years.
Phil was born to John and Eleanor Callahan in Butte, Montana and grew up in Spokane. He graduated with a degree in Chemistry from the University of Washington and had a long career as a Food Chemist with Libby’s Foods that involved travel from Puerto Rico to Alaska, South Africa to Japan.
Jeanita and Phil met in Seattle and were married in 1948 at the Sedro- Woolley Methodist church. Their home was in Seattle but they always maintained and visited the family home in Sedro Woolley. They loved to travel and cruise, spending much of their retirement years visiting exciting places such as Europe, Asia, the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii and the western US.
They are survived by their children, Lucinda, Dan and Lois all of Seattle: Jeanita’s sister, Virginia Leonard and her husband Paul; nieces and nephews Peter, Patricia and John Leonard and great nieces, Cecelia and Kalina Leonard.
Remembrances are suggested to either the Providence Mt. St. Vincent Foundation, 4831-35th Av SW, Seattle, WA 98126 or to the Northwest Organization for Animal Health NOAH a no kill animal shelter, 31300 Brandstrom Rd, Stanwood, WA 98292.
Graveside services for Jeanita will be held on Saturday August 13, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Mr. Jim Bridgman officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
