JOHN ANDREW WAKE, 57, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley.
John was born on May 5, 1946 in Sheridan, Missouri, the son of Vernon & Fern Swett Wake.
He came to Skagit County in 1956, attending school in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from SWHS in 1964. John worked in the steel manufacturing industry for a while, working for Bendix Corp in Sedro-Woolley and for Jorgenson Steel in Seattle. In the mid 1970’s he began a long career as a truck driver. He drove car haulers transporting vehicles, was a long haul driver for Brown Line and was a truck test driver for PACCAR.
John was a BIG sports fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball and he loved playing pool and NASCAR races.
John is survived by his five children, Kerry Wake and wife Kelly of Concrete, Marc Wake and wife Emily of Mount Vernon, Lori Thomas and husband Jeff of Concrete and Scarlett & Kyler Wake of Clear Lake. 9 grandchildren, Alicia, Andy, Dylan, Josh, Megan, Jared, Rachael, Ashton and Estella Rae. 1 brother, Marvin Wake and wife Ruth of Concrete and 1 sister, Loretta Wake of Marysville, WA. A brother-in-law, Charles Frump of Custer, WA. 3 honorary sons, Mike and Pat Allen and Kevin Sapp. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials are suggested to North Puget Oncology. Funeral services will be held on Friday October 24, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Visitation available at Lemley Chapel thru services on Friday.
