Keith Egbert, age 79, a lifetime resident and Dairyman of Bow, Washington, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his home in Bow.
He was born February 21, 1929 in Mount Vernon, Washington to Clarence Eli ‘Bud’ and Bessie Mae ‘Betty’ Egelkraut Egbert. Keith grew up on the family farm in Bow, attended school and graduated from Burlington Edison High School with the Class of 1947. After graduation, Keith attended Washington State University in Pullman and later returned to the family farm. He was married to Doris Tilden on August 21, 1954 in Auburn, Washington and they had just celebrated 54 years together.
Keith was a member of the American Guernsey Cattle Club, Darigold, Allen Fire Department, lifetime member of the Allen United Methodist Church, and the Skagit Island Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He lived to hunt in the fall, loved family get-togethers and after his retirement, he assisted at the Neighbors in Need Food Bank in Mount Vernon.
Keith is survived by his wife Doris Egbert of the family home in Bow. His children; Deborah Kanske and her husband Duane of Mount Vernon, Kathryn Schneider and her companion Tom Murray of Lopez Island, Carolyn Kelly and her husband Mark of Clear Lake, John Egbert and his wife Amanda of Bow, and Jeanette Burns of Zillah. Grandchildren; Dustin, Douglas, & Dean Kanske. Chris, Ken, Phillip, Peter John and his wife Amy and Jennifer Kelly. Aron Schneider and Rachael Havel and her husband Pat. Keith, Ian, Michelle, and Cindy Egbert. Andrew and Joseph Burns. Great Grandchildren; Alexander Havel and Elizabeth Kelly. His sister; Mary Carolyn Engle and her husband David of Bow and his brother; Robert Bruce Egbert and his wife Mary Ruth of Vancouver, WA. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special relatives; his aunt, Carrell Squires of Stanwood, a cousin, Robert Egbert of Sedro-Woolley, and Jeffrey Burns of Zillah. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Alvin Schuller and a brother, James Doyle Egbert.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 20, 2008 at 1:00PM at the Allen United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Hargis assisted by Rev. David Engle officiating. Interment will follow at the Bow Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church. Memorials are suggested to Neighbors in Need Food Bank in Mount Vernon, Allen United Methodist Church Sunday School or Skagit Hospice.
